President
Hayley Cavagnaro

Picture
My name is Hayley Cavagnaro. I am your President for the 2019-2020 school year! I am a junior and this is my third year in FFA. I am also the Secretary for the Santa Clara Section. Some things I enjoy are camping and hiking. I also enjoy riding dirt bikes. I have raised two steers and am working on my third. I have raised a service dog named Colt for the USVSD! At the moment I am indecisive about my future career but have been thinking about law enforcement, either S.W.A.T or K-9 unit!

Vice President
Alexis Young

My name is Alexis Young and I am serving as your Vice President. I have been in FFA for all four years of my high school career. I was first interested in FFA when they came to my middle school. Since then I have been active in FFA, participating in public speaking competitions, serving as a chapter officer for the last three years and earning my state degree. I have also raised two service dogs for the USVSD, my first one Charlotte and my current one Jade. My favorite competition has to be Impromptu and my favorite team competition is Parliamentary Procedure. I've had an amazing four years in FFA making great memories and even greater friends. When I'm not doing something for FFA, I can usually be found in a dance studio or curled up somewhere with a good book. In the future I'd love to be a lawyer which would be really great for how talkative I am.

Secretary
Saul Salinas

My name is Saul Salinas. I have been in FFA for 4 years. I started getting interested in FFA when my sister was in high school and she would talk about it. It interested me a lot when Gilroy FFA came to my middle school. I loved learning about it, so I joined my freshmen year. My first SAE project was last year, when I took my lamb to Santa Clara County fair. I had a great experience and I would like to do it again. My highest pin that I have received is my state degree. I have many hobbies, one of my favorites is tennis. My favorite competition was opening/closing because I got to practice my speaking skills. My favorite team has been this years officer team because we came up with great ideas and calibrate very well.

Treasurer
Rocelyn Capili

My name is Rocelyn Capili. I am your  Treasurer for 2019 and 2020. I have been in FFA for 4 years now. I was on the Veterinarian team last year and plan to continue it this year! I love to play guitar and the ukulele. Drawing and paint are also passions of mine. I am raising a service dog named Onyx for the USVSD. After-school activities I enjoy are working games for sports medicine and taking Onyx on adventures. In the future I would love to work as an exotic animal specialist or an animal trainer!

Reporter
Jason Mattingly

My name is Jason Mattingly. I am a senior. I've been in FFA for three years and this has been one of the best experiences out of my  high school career. I first found out about FFA when I was little because of my family showing at fairs, when I got into high school I tried to get into a Ag class but I couldn't because of how many classes I was taking. So my Sophomore year I took Ag chem and that's where my enjoyment of FFA started. The Ag class that I enjoyed the most was Vet Science because it was very rewarding and it is practical. I'm currently raising pheasants, it has been one of the most fulfilling experiences. Some of the things I like to do is hunting, archery, and weightlifting. My favorite team event in FFA is Dairy Judging and I'm looking forwards for it this year! I'm always looking for a new information to update you on!

Sentinel
Mackenzie Van Laar

My name is Mackenzie Van Laar. I am a sophomore at Gilroy High School. I was inspired to join FFA during a field trip to the high school in eighth grade. I am the chapter Sentinel and Sectional Treasurer! I have recently began working with the service dogs as my SAE project. A few of the many activities I enjoy participating in, is marching band and swimming. One of my favorite competitions was the Parli Pro Competition our team competed in last year. Working on the officer team with such amazing individuals is such an amazing opportunity. I look forward to serving you this year as your 2019-2020 Sentinel!
